It has been confirmed that many products that are copies of our company’s radios are circulating, mainly in overseas markets. These counterfeit products differ greatly from genuine products in terms of quality and safety.
As a result, we have decided to further strengthen our activities against counterfeit products. As specific measures, we will work on the following.
Strengthening our product certification system
For products that are considered to be at high risk of counterfeiting, we have introduced a system that allows us to confirm that they are genuine products by affixing hologram stickers or unique authentication QR codes before shipping them.
However, we have also confirmed cases where the hologram sticker itself has been forged, or where the authentication display has been made to look very similar to that of the genuine product by using a fake QR code, leading users to a site that is not genuine.
In the future, we will gradually consolidate the methods for confirming genuine products into a QR code authentication system with even higher reliability, and we will also make people aware of the existence of fake authentication sites, while strengthening our calls for people to check the domain name using the URL.
The current product verification system is explained in detail in the following link.
- The above measures are not being implemented for products or amateur radio products for the Japanese market, as the risk of counterfeiting is currently low. In addition, strict controls are in place to ensure the traceability of products throughout the manufacturing and distribution process, just as for products for overseas markets.
